BMW F90 M5 S62TU2 V8 Stage 2 ECU tune by Evolve for intake and exhaust - 742 horsepower, 5.8 second 100-200 kph sprint

The F90 M5 is a bolt on beast. It's on the verge of running 9's with bolt on modifications and for the vast majority of owners who tune bolt on tuning will be as far as they go. That means an ECU tune likely with an exhaust and perhaps an intake.

Pretty much exactly like what you see here from Evolve Automotive's F90 M5 test car.

Evolve it utilizing a Dyno Dynamics so keep that in mind. Do not try to compare peak figures to other dynamometers but look at the increase in the context of this dyno.

Evolve's software picks up major torque gains down low but interestingly there is not a sacrifice in top end punch. Actually, the top end is much stronger as well:

The software is producing 112 horsepower over the full exhaust with downpipes and intake figure but the torque increase at 2500 rpm is 200 lb-ft. Now, this does level off as to be expected but the Stage 2 example continues to make power to 7000 rpm whereas the factory tune drops off at 5700 rpm. More low end and top end here.

Now dynos are one thing, how about the real world acceleration increase? Well, it was wet when testing and Evolve did not show their GPS readouts in the video but they did post the tuned run later. They state a conservative 1.6 second improvement in 100-200 kph acceleration. Here is the tuned run:

    The F90 M5 indeed is a beast.

Impressive but are the rods as weak as the f10? Regardless, 760ft/lbs @ ~2500rpm is asking for it....

It's a very good question and I don't think we have an answer regarding the S63TU2 rods just yet.

any reason not to believe the AWD M3/M4 FBO will be as capable if not more so than a FBO f90 m5?

It will be just as capable. The S58 will need more boost due to the 1.4 liters of displacement difference to the S63 but it will also be lighter by 500lbs (4,2XX vs 3,7XX) which helps the power to weight ratio.

    742hp & 4250lbs = 5.7lbs/hp

    658hp & 3750lbs = 5.7lbs/hp

FYI Tune, DPs and E85 can get you 658hp from the previous generation S55 motor.

Displacement means very little in the efficient turbo era we're in. Only changes the amount of boost and torque curve. S55's are already hitting 1000 rwhp.

It does at the FBO levels you referenced. Doubt the newer M3 will even come close to giving an M5 a run for its money In stock form....
