Doc Race 6266 and Clutch install, would it be easier to just pull the motor?

    Hi all,

I will be embarking on a Doc Race 6266 and clutch install into my 135i. I want to replace the exhaust manifold studs, clutch, oil pan gasket, water pump, pretty much everything I should be.

Question for those who have done the install.. would it be easier to just pull the entire motor in a few hours and do everything with the motor outside the car? I have seen DIY videos of people supporting the engine and dropping the subframe, but it doesn't look like there's much space to work in there.

    Any comments are greatly appreciated!!

guess it depends if you using a lift or not? Using a 4post i did the clutch twice and it wasn't terrible. Once the stock turbos are out of the way there is a decent amount of room.

I'll be using jackstands. Turbo is simple, I can just remove the motor mount, but pulling the tranny with the car on jackstands sounds like torture.

Jackstands would be torture. Unless you are 21 then sure have at it.
